Students will learn the Haku method of braiding to make Lei Po’o (adornments worn around the head)

12:00PM-2:00PM Hula Kahiko “A Ka Luna O Pi’ihonua”

This rigorous Kahiko pays homage to Her Royal Highness, Virginia Kapooloku Poomaikelani, sister of Queen Kapiolani who was born in Pi’ihonua (where I was born) on the Island of Hawaii.

3:00PM-5:00PM Hula Auana “Kauai Lana I Ke Kai” 

This mele by Robert Cazimero sings the praises of the Garden Isle, Kauai.  A small group of us took a trip to Kauai in 2020 to escape the craziness of Covid and to hopefully compose new mele for Hula. That week away yielded so many wonderful songs.  This is one of my favorites.
